CHS' "The Section" is legendary.

Student Council

I helped out with StuCo activities (building my class' float for the parade, decorating a hallway at school) and Prom (setup and coat check) every year.

Link Leaders / Cougar Crew

My junior and senior year, I was a Link Leader (or Cougar Crew leader, as the program changed from one year to the next). Since high school had really freaked me out when I was a freshman, I decided I wanted to take the opportunity to show the new kids that high school is no big deal. So, my partner and I attended several training sessions, then led a small group of freshman in mixer games, a campus tour, and a Q & A session on Freshman Orientation day.

Life as a Cougar

At Centennial High School, school spirit is everything.  Seriously. I hate watching sports, and I went to almost every football game just because I loved our student section so much.

Habitat for Humanity

I was a member of the CHS chapter of Habitat for Humanity all four years of school. Junior and senior year, I physically helped build the houses (for which we had raised $10K each year.) Helping out with tons of fundraisers really felt worth my time once I saw what we as students could do for someone in our own community.

Senior year, we built a house right in the middle of downtown Franklin!

Junior year, the build site was out in Fairview, TN -- a little more backwoods-y than Franklin, to say the least.
